It was 40 degrees today hmmmm
We were very busy yesterday. We worked in the nursery which was v tiring - basically making sure the kids don't escape or kill each other. Jo learnt some new hindi words - 'lal = red' , 'fool = flower' , 'sabe = apple' - v useful! After lunch 3 of us (Jo, Pragya and Richard) took english class. The room was full of teenagers so it was a bit daunting but we quickly got into the swing of it! We taught them about the difference between 'in' and 'into' and worked on their word pronunciation. Eg. 'squabble' instead of 'sq-vobul' and 'h' instead of 'hech' so atleast we made a bit of a difference!
Finished work early so the 3 of us decided we would go to the toilet museum, however much to our disappointment, a wise old rickshaw driver informed us that the road it was on was blocked. Naturally we were very upset so went to see Humayan's Tomb. In the evening, we took an auto rickshaw to meet the others at Birla Mandir (aka Lakshmi Narayan's Temple - a beautiful 1930's temple). We couldn't agree a price with the driver for the journey so he suggested we use the meter. It showed Rs65 at the end of the journey but we gave him 80 as there were 4 people travelling (there should only legally be 3, but hey this is India) and he kicked off in the street. There was lots of shouting (mostly his) and he even threatened to tell the police!!This was fine by us cos none of it was our fault! In the end we gave him 90 but it didn't put us in a very good mood for visiting the temple. Ironically, the driver we had on the way back couldn't have been nicer - he chatted away for the whole 45 mins and broke into song a lot.
Today, Pragya worked in the nursery all morning while Jo observed in the theatre. Had a nice leisurely lunch - pasta and chocolate cake
. We both helped in the homework class and this evening we had a Hindi class and a long cookery session. So we're off to bed now.
xx

You seem to be getting the hang of using rickshaws.
Very quiet here, but it's been drier and I eventually managed to get the lawn cut for the first time this year. xx
