May 4, 2008 - Delhi, India

Jo ventured to the church this morning with Abbie. It was a modern service held at the British Embassy School and we enjoyed it. Pragya, Jo, Amrit and Abbie went for lunch in Pizza Hut (how common) and then went window shopping in a big mall. It was just like being in England (:

The weather was quite unsettled today - it's been overcast all day but was still v hot. We went with Abbie to the Akshardham Temple, a huge temple across the river. At sunset, it decided to rain and was quite atmospheric as there was lightning too. As always it was a hassle to get inside - deposit bags, body search (twice!), shoes off, lots of shoving ... but it was worth it when we got inside the grounds. The carving was so ornate and there was a musical fountain show (better than it sounds). And then it was back to reality as the auto rickshaw drivers tried to bleed us dry - Rs150 (2 pounds) was their standard offer when it should have been about Rs70. Oh how we enjoy the fight they always put up!

xx
