Stepping Out

January 15, 2012 - Streator, Illinois, United States

Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "Faith is taking the first step, even though you can't see the complete staircase."  God how true this is...and how true that human nature makes us want to see all before we step.  While there's some good wisdom in "advanced planning"....LOL, (of course)...Dr. King's words are so vitally important to all of us...because let's face it...sometimes we can't see the whole staircase....or even 3 or 4 steps ahead.  What are we to do then?  Freeze and not step out?

In this "another day" of mine...I'm impressed with the courage of Dr. King....and for what he inspires us to remember.  My time here on the road is calling me to stay more in the present, stop worrying so much about the future, and embrace the solid footing of the solitary next step before me.  It's such a profound lesson...and one that it looks like I'll learn over an over again.  I don't think we'll ever "get there"....but the best all of us can to embrace this profound truth along the way as we're faced with not being able to see so clearly ahead...

I hope your day is inspired with the immediacy and richness of the moment.  There's something in this moment worth embracing....

Very rich and beautiful. All we have is this moment. One step at a time, one day at a time. I'm trying to re-learn that also.

And that is exactly what we are doing to the best of our abilities.
