"Laissez les bons temps rouler"

June 4, 2010 - New Orleans, Louisiana, United States

Well, we made it to New Orleans.  We actually showed up not knowing where we were going to stay, which was simultaneously really cool and a little nerve wracking. We ended up in a hostel by the french quarter.. free wi-fi! yay!

Last night we explored the french quarter including the infamous bourbon st. I got a "Jester" frozen drink which claimed to be the strongest drink on bourbon st. It had everclear, 151, and some fruity mix in it... It wasn't my favorite drink, but it certainly did its job. I was good to go after that one, and our next stop was Vaso, off bourbon st. I did the cupid shuffle with the dance crowd there and watched them do some salsa dancing after as well. And Lia got a free drink! Woo! Then we watched some random live music on frenchman st before heading back to the hostel.

Its super hot and humid here and it felt nice to take a cool shower this morning. Today were gonna do more exploring, not sure what exactly yet.

Also, a note:

Yesterday we figured out why there are so many tires on the side of the road. We saw a semi bust a tire right in front of us and I had to swerve to avoid getting hit. Luckilly they have 18 wheels so it just "kept on truckin"

And I finally made it to florida! We took a minor detour by Mobile, AL to shoot through FL for about 20 minutes :)

Sounds like a good day. If you get a chance, stop by Tipitinas on Tchopitoulas Street, or the Maple Leaf Bar off Carrolton in Uptown. both good places to have a beverage and listen to good music, and both away from the quarter. Have fun!

How did I miss youre first entry. We've been in Canada, of all places, for three days at the theater in Niagara on the Lake. Glad you're on your way and surprised to hear you're already in New Awlins, ya'all. Haved a great time. I did this about a month before I got married in 1966 and we had a Mustang with no A/C. Three guys...pretty smelly a lot of the way.
Drive safely and stay away from NYC.
