Northern coastal Queensland is littered with beautiful beaches all with georgous white sand and crysel clear water. They are all deserted and the reason for this is, one the Aussies as a rule try to keep out of the sun (one in 3 is destined to get skin cancer), and two the bloody jelly fish! From November to May it isn't safe to swim in the waters without one of those fabulous stinger suits we mentioned before. So we head south to 1770 as it is one of the northern most beaches where you can safely (well appart from the sharks) get in the water, but it seems the little blighter have other ideas and have moved there also so no swimming again! 1770 is so called as it is when Captain Cook first set foot in Queenland in 1770, it is thought the Spanish and Poruguese had been here before but were not impressed so left it to the Brits to claim. It is also home to one of the coolest tours we have ever done, the Scooteroos, it involves zooming around on scooters which look like slightly smaller versions of real motorbikes, in a large group like a pack of junior hells angels, way cool! It did nothing to quosh Ruth's desire to have her own bike but she still isn't allowed.

That clock on the wall it rings, it chimes
It's beer thirty, a honky tonk time
Life's too short, let's get to livin' it
Let's give it all we can give it
Let your hair down, turn the music up
We gonna paint the town flat, tear it up
The party starts here get in line
Beer thirty a honky tonk time
Have a great 30th! Patrick, Jennifer & Niamh x x x
