Our Christmas celebrations were planned for Byron bay and we arrived at the campsite on the 23rd. We had really struggled to get a pitch anywhere and it was only at the last minute that we managed to upgrade and actually get some power on our site. So it was with surprise that we rolled into an almost desserted campsite. We were obliged to book a minimum 5 night stay (as was the requirement everywhere we called) so we expected that the rest of the clientelle would arrive at any moment. But, as the days went past, we remained in spendid isolation thoughout the festive season. All very strange, and I'm afraid that we still do not know why!?!
Still excellent beginners surf beach and we managed to get all the treats and nice food/fizz for the 4 days there for less than we would have spent on one meal at home at this time of year.
Christmas day was brilliant. Lazy morning with a few pressies, and equally lazy afternoon with a quick trip to the beach to play with the new Christmas frisbee, then a very nice steak dinner in the van. Boxing day was also spent on the beach with the surfboard, which has now been christened Charlie.
