Decided to camper van it up to Darwin so have 3 and a half weeks holed up in a 1m by 1m cabin!?... Altho there to begin with there was actually no space to sit stand as we had sooo much stuff!.. But did manage to secrete it away in all the holes.
Highlights were the Pinnacles - just North of Perth, where we spent the first night camped out by the beach. Next to Kalbarri and spent an afternoon chilling out on the beach... On to Monkey Mia and the World Heritage Coastal area known as Shark Bay. Where the morning was spent paddling with Dolphins. Then to Coral Bay, which was gorge (a fave for Aussies - camp sites are booked out until Summer 09!) for more relaxing on the beach. We drove further up the peninsula to Exmouth and hired some snorkelling gear, from there we drove to the Ningaloo Marine Park and went snorkelling in the reef at Turquoise Bay, which was awesome.. There was a bit where you got in the water at one end and then the current just pulls you round over the coral.
Further up to Karijini National Park for spectacular gorges and waterfalls.. The flies by this point have become absolutely unbearable.. As soon as you stepped out of the van there were just hundreds all over you (this is less of a highlight.. More of a NB!) Final stop before Broome was the aptly Eighty Mile Beach.. For its length and also the distance you had to walk to get to the sea!
