Travel bugs

March 17, 2008 - Vienna, Austria

So it's been a little while since I've posted anything but that has more to do with the fact that we've been travelling around and not having Wifi than anything else!
Since I last wrote when we were in Amsterdam we have been to Hamburg, Berlin, Prague and now we're in Vienna. Pretty much they're all just beautiful!!
Hamburg was really nice - we just wandered around on our own there and found lots of pretty things to look at. We didn't really go into anything too much but just drifted which was nice. And of course, we did have a Hamburg Hamburger - and it was good!!
When we got to Berlin we did a walking tour with an Aussie tour guide! It was a fantastic tour. Berlin is so interesting - it's seriously made me wish I'd done history at school. We both loved it. We went to the Pergamon Museum on our second day there and that was really cool. It covered art from the Ancient Greeks, Babylonians and then went on to Islamic art. It was really cool. We also went and had some real German food which was nice! We had some apple strudel drowned in vanilla sauce - yum!!!
Prague was amazing. It was such a beautiful city. We wandered here again and just found the sights on our own. It was pretty nice to just go around and try to absorb the beauty of the city - we were a little camera happy that day - as you can no doubt tell by the photos! We also had traditional food there - which meant Andrew had a pig's knee!! Gross!! But he thoroughly enjoyed it and I must admit - I tried some and it wasn't bad!
So now we're in Vienna. We did a walking tour yesterday which was ok - not quite as good as the other two we've done. It showed us lots of castles and cathedrals and cool things though. We also got to see Mozart’s House which believe it or not - is just a house, nothing that special! But still it was cool to know that I was standing right next to where some of the world's best music was created! Today we're going to probably go and look at a couple of museums and a castle.
Tomorrow we're off to Budapest for two nights before we head back to Dublin to continue the job hunt and hopefully stop haemorrhaging money!

Well, until next time!
Love Ruth and Andrew

A beautiful city. It may be cold but it produces excellent conditions for photography
