Ok! So I suppose a bit of an update is in order! We’re in Dublin again. We’re staying with my uncle Sean which has been great. We’re probably going to be travelling again in the next couple of days and see some other parts of Ireland and go and visit my other relatives.
We’ve been to Budapest since the last time I wrote. I should actually say we’ve been to Buda and Pest – the city is split in two by the Danube River! Budapest was nice but it wasn’t our favourite. The language differences were most noticeable here and I even had one lady refuse to serve me because I was speaking English. We climbed up a big hill the first night and had the most beautiful views of the city lit up at night. That went a long way in redeeming the city!
There were lots of lovely buildings in Budapest but as the city isn’t very rich, most of them have fallen into a state of disrepair. We spent our one whole day in Budapest wandering around and finding the nice things to see before we went caving underneath the city. That was pretty cool. I would not be able to find the same path that the tour guide used because he kept on gesturing to what looked like solid walls for us to go through! Some of the gaps were tiny!! We had a great time though and are very happy we did it.
The morning before we came back to Dublin we went to a castle in Budapest that was pretty cool. There was a whole village that was actually inside the castle grounds. The architecture was very pretty, very Disney! I felt like I’d just walked onto the set of Ever After or something like that! There were some labyrinths underground as well which we looked into – they were cool but also a little tacky, they’d tried too hard in some respects! On our way back to our accommodation we got snowed on! That was very cool! I’m sure the locals just found it annoying but it was a novelty for us!
Eventually we left Budapest and headed back to Dublin where we’ve been all Easter. The job hunt still isn’t too promising so we’re not quite sure what our plans are. We’d like to go to some of the Mediterranean countries when it warms up a bit but we’ll just wait and see!
Hope everyone back home is going well!
Lots of love,
Ruth and Andrew xxx
