All good things must come to an end...

April 19, 2008 - Birr, Ireland

Well I’m sure it’s not wholly unexpected by some – but we’re coming home. Homesickness isn’t the main reason for it though! It’s just been too difficult to find jobs! I heard from the Irish Nursing Board the other day and they hadn’t registered me and wouldn’t until I had done a minimum six week adaptation course – I’ve been working as a nurse for two years – no thank you! We’ve been really enjoying ourselves when we’ve been travelling and it’s just when we’ve stopped that we’ve gotten a little miserable, being homesick and stressed about not having jobs and an income etc. So we came over here for a 12 month working holiday and instead are having a three month holiday – I’m ok with that!

We're taking the long route home - going to get some more travelling done first! We’re going to Italy on Tuesday for a week then Switzerland for a couple of days followed by France for a week and Spain for a few days. We had to cut Greece and Scotland from our plans and put them on our list of places to go in later life as they were just going to make it way too expensive.

So those are the plans now and we’re both looking forward to the next part of our travels. For those of you back in Perth – we’ll see you in a few weeks!

Love Ruth and Andrew xx
