Contenders for the London Olympics...

July 18, 2008 - New York, New York, United States

So, today we went to Central Park (and for two people that have the directional navigation of pigeons Sie we did VERY well, it only took us about three hours to find it :-P ). We wandered for hours to find Strawberry Fields and thought it was a bit of a let down. It's just GRASS. Where were the raving loonies that think John Lennon staged his own death?

So, to entertain ourselves we decided that today was the day of the big boat trip. I have never rowed in my entire life but Rach insisted that she could and even told me she thought seriously about joining the uni rowing team. So, in we got and the guy gave us a shove into the middle of the lake.

"How do I steer this thing?!" Rach yelled. Honestly, it's a wonder she knew where the oars were. We just sat there whilst other people happily rowed by, Rach kept assuring me that she was just waiiting for her 'rhythm' to kick in....ten mins later, I was laughing hysterically (silently, apparently Sie it's a well known fact that when I find something reallllly funny I make no noise when I laugh?) and the guy on the bank is standing there looking at us and giggling to himself.

"Where's my rhythm?" Rach keeps asking me.

I think she must have left it on the subway.

So, she finally gets going (for all of ten mins) then she got bored, so I did it for the rest and nearly drowned us in the waterfall that was crashing down (much to the amusement of the other American tourists who were busy taking pictures of us).

We also went to the zoo (and saw a fat monkey and we thought it was you, another 'poem' we sang on the river but then we really are sad) and saw the sea lions, Scooter and April, getting fed.

We have just come out of the local Irish bar off 5th Avenue. Unfortunately, the Irish are much more loved than the English. Luckily for us, the owner of the bar also happened to have been the one that checked our ID, and inisisted on giving us free Cosmo's...more than once (yes B, thanks for the concern about the freebies!)....we did worry that maybe he was spiking our drinks (Rach complained of a raging rash, but then that's just 'Raging Rash Rachel' for you....) and then came to look up more bars we can go to....

Thanks Sie for the message, we will take the tips..

Keep the messages  coming, we like!!

Love Rach and Sam (and Teebs who has had LOTS of exciting photos) xxx

I can't believe you'd forgotten those misadventures on and around West Park boating lake and still tried your hand at it! It would have been hysterically embarrassing to watch, I'm sure. Never turn down a free drink, and if it is spiked, well, cheap night out!
