Where Are The Japs?

December 8, 2013 - Kanchanaburi, Thailand

I have been in Thailand now for 5 days - Bangkok is a typical Asian large city - busy and hot. And surprisingly clean. I have only visited one tourist sight - Wat Pho temple complex - as the sheer numbers of Chinese, Japanese, Russian and others is just too annoying. How many bloody photos do people need to take?!

I have now come 3 hours on the train to Kanchanaburi. It is where the death railway is; the bridge over the river Kwai. I went to visit the war cemetery where there are 7,000 immaculately kept graves. It is similar to the cemeteries in Belgium, albeit slightly hotter and noisier, although no less moving. The funny thing is that there were no Japs visiting the cemetery, considering the multitude elsewhere!

Surprisingly clean? I bet I'd have been more surprised than you were. On the subject of which, there is a funny smell in the corridor outside our room. And I haven't seen Lauren for a few days. oooer ...
Of course I wish you were here, or I was there. I don't like being Vince-less. But I'm glad I didnt have to visit that blimmin' war cemetery. I, like the Japs, would have given that one a miss for sure. Don't eat any eggs!!! xxx
