To Pie or Not to Pie?

July 4, 2008 - Cleveland, Ohio, United States

One 10 hour drive, a few games of Shanghai, 3 cones of ice cream from Katie's, one lost cell phone, and a day full of torrential rainstorms, we've almost made it- contrary to Mackenzie's and my thoughts only 3 hours ago, we will be making our flight to Newark AND our connection to Manchester.  Then the real journey can begin.

Sitting in your typical airport restaurant,  Mackenzie and I are contemplating the prospects of ordering an apple pie- and if so- with or without ice cream?  (We just decided on the ice cream.)  However, apple pie or not, we still can't come to terms that the trip that we have been planning for almost too long (Mackenzie just informed me that it has indeed been too long), is finally about to take place.

The current consensus is that there shall be no apple pie.  However, there is still hope.  (If only the waitresses would quit ignoring us.)

Back to the trip,  tomorrow morning at approximately 10 am, we will be landing in Manchester, England.  From Manchester we will promptly take the Britrail to our resort in the Lake District of Great Britain where we will be staying for 3-4 days.  From there we are leaving for Inverness/Avienmore,  Scotland where we will be staying the bulk of our trip (about a week and a half).  Then, we are off again to Dyserth, Wales for a few days before returning once more to Manchester to catch our plane home.

While writing that basic summary of our trip, it seems much too short but, in actuality, 3 weeks is quite a length of time....especially when it includes two very different sets of people.  Old & Young.  Democrats & Republicans.  Seniors & Ex-Seniors.  Disorganized & Organized.

The apple pie has arrived,
Savvy Jaye
