After One Week,

July 12, 2008 - Aviemore, United Kingdom

we have finally come to a resort with FREE wi-fi access in our lodge.needless to say, Mackenzie and I are thrilled.

Today has been a fairly slow day,
[i] slept in until 12:30 (7:30 est).
took a shower.
ate breakfast (yes, at 1:30 in the afternoon.)
packed.
moved to our new lodge, (the scandanavian village in Aviemore.)

However yesterday was fun,
We had been planning on going to Inverness (the BIG city about 30 minutes up the
rail" ) on Friday for the past couple days,
however due to the DISGUSTING weather of Aviemore,
(Oh, Aviemore- how we hate you so.)
we decided it was best to go a little South.
(thank God, for the Brit Passes.)
We settled on Perth.

So we woke up at 6:30 (savannah), 7:00 (gran and gramp), and 7:20 (mackenzie- after i turned up the radio and threatened to jump on her bed) to get ready for the train at 10:01 (but we had to catch the bus to the train station at 8:30)

At 8:25 I successfully rounded up the entire Kline Clan
(no little feat may I add.)
and had us waiting at the bus stop.
and waiting.

and waiting.

and waiting.
in the cold.
wet.
frozen.
rain.
(Mackenzie and I swear we saw snow flakes forming.)

At 9:00 two people start to pull out of the Hilton's drive,
and i think-
"God, please let them offer us a ride!"
and we hear-
"You need a ride?"
and we say-
"YES!!!!"

So 30 minutes later than expected we arrived in Aviemore,
got much, much needed HOT Chocolate.
did a few errands,
and met up at the train depo at 9:45.
(Except Gramps who showed up around 9:55.)

One long nap in a freezing train car and an hour and a half later-
we arrived in Perth.
and,
there was no rain.
and,
it was warm.

Poor Aviemore, oh we hate you so.
(Mackenzie just chipped in with a, "If anybody loves this place they're psycho." )

So, after a long day of shopping,
(that included a lot of not buying stuff and wishing the american dollar was worth more,
but also a little bit of buying a ridiculously cute purse and wallet.  wait, did i mention ridiculously cute?  Try illegally cute in all 50 states PLUS Puerto Rico, Washington DC, and the Virgin Islands.)
Mackenzie and I leave St. John's square and head back to Perth Methodist Church
(one of the tallest buildings in that part of the city)
to meet Grandma and Grandaddy at the scheduled time of 3:30.

We arrive,
we sit on a bench,
and for the second time that day,
we were left waiting.
and soon we were left waiting in the rain.
and that became the cold, wet rain.
(trust me, we have discovered the difference between cold, wet rain and cold, dry rain.)

5 minutes later,
Mackenzie and I have moved from the nice bench,
to banging on the church door (and not being let in)
and having to sit on the church stoop.

10 minutes later,
Mackenzie and I have devised a possible emergency plan.*

15 minutes later,
Grandma and Grandaddy walk up acting as though they are right on time.

Typical.

*For future reference:
The emergency plan was for Mackenzie and I to wait at assigned rendezvous point for two hours.
We then call one of our parents about the situation,  inform them of where we are waiting to meet grandma/grandaddy, and which train we were/are planning on taking back to our resort.  If our grandparents do NOT show up at the rendezvous point prior to the train's departure, we will return back to our resort and await further instructions/communication from any family member.

We were quite proud of it.
P.S.  Somewhere in this time period we WOULD call 9-9-9!

*Emergency Plan was well thought out but am sooo glad not needed...this time...You will have to WAIT to determine if ever needed!

Hey, for Gramma and Grandaddy, 15 minutes late actually is about the same as being on time! Just a matter of perspective, girls...you've already kind of gotten the hang of time zones, so just make their time zone one that varies by a quarter to a half an hour from "real time" and you'll be fine! Keep on smiling :) :) :)

i don't like much how i was accused of being a hassle in the morning when, in actuality, i had my own plan and stuck to it very well. sorry if that does not coincide with yours but it's something to get used to.

love,
me
