AYR

February 4, 2010 - Ayr, United Kingdom

Weather: At the time, cold. Snowy. Frosty.  Now it's...well, it was almost springlike, until this evening, when it decided randomly to snow again.  Now it looks like Christmas.  I don't know what to tell you beyond that.  I'm as baffled as you may be.

Ayr is a cute coastal town that I went to about a month ago.  It's been that long because I've been neglecting the weather report.  Wow.  Well, the story is best told in the pictures.

Well, the job interview that everyone was so excited about went all right, but in the end I didn't get the job.  It was for a part time position at an organization that helps disabled people.  I thought it would be a fulfilling job.

As for staying in Scotland...the question has been risen.  Well.  I am considering it.  Right now, all I can legally work is part time, but when I graduate I am considering A) getting a teaching license to teach secondary school for a while because I have realised, everyone, that I am not mentally/emotionally ready for the rigours and commmittment of a PhD program at this point.  B) Getting a work visa that would allow me to work full time for up to 2 years here and seeing what else I could do in terms of employment/further education.

I really like it here.  I miss home, a lot, but I think to do what I want to do with my life I would need to leave Bozeman anyway, at least for a while.  It's a tough choice and I'm not certain about anything yet except that I need to keep working my tail off on my Master's first.  Grades came back and I have a B.  16/22 possible points, which is "Very Good."  But I want the A!! "Excellent" is what you get with the A.  So I will be trying for that this semester!!!!

As always, I really appreciate you guys keeping in touch and am very happy to hear from you.  I've been a horrible pen pal lately as far as getting back to you or posting more, but hopefully I will be able to juggle everything around and take some more pictures too, since the days are getting longer and we're getting more daylight finally (not SUNlight, mind you...) :)

Anyway, I hope you will enjoy the new pictures, and I hope to be in touch with you soon!! Have a wonderful day! Especially if there is sun :)

Okay..."the question has been risen"?! And I have an English degree?! How about "the question has been RAISED"!

Also, you might have to click on the Pictures tab at the top to get to new pictures. It doesn't seem to be putting them at the bottom for some reason. Also, there's a new and crappy video, very very short, of the waves at the ocean. You know. If you're into that kind of thing.

LOL!!! Totally love how your use of the English language! As always, the pictures are wonderful, expecially the ocean ones. But that ocean looks kinda cold. Don't know about you, but I'm tired of cold. Can't wait for the warm weather & sunshine to come back.

Not that I know anything, but I think holding off on the PhD is a wise idea. Get the Master thing out of the way first. The PhD isn't going anywhere...right? :-)

Sorry you didn't get the job, but something will turn up for you, I'm sure! I think that it would be awesome & amazing if you stayed in Scotland & taught school. I mean, how many people can say they've done that? You'd be the first I know! Plus, that will give me more time to come & visit you. I tell ya, time seems to be going so fast & I'm not using it as wisely as I could. Can't believe January is over already & February is almost half over too!! Arg!

And you go & get that excellent "A"! If anyone can get it, it's you! And you are not a terrible pen pal. We all know that you are VERY busy. And yes, I know that it's a faux pas to begins sentences with "and". Just wanted to see if you were paying any attention.

Well, I'm done rambling on now. I'll warn you: I expect a totally awesome story about St. Patrick's Day when it comes & lots & lots of pictures!!!

Miss You Much & Take Care!!! :-)

Wow! It is so good to hear from you. As I've said before and I will reiterate, please don't worry about how often or not how often you write as we all know you are busy. I enjoy hearing from you whenever you have the time to write.

Jaimie, I'm sorry, I had to laugh when you talked about staying in Scotland because it made me think that "my little girl" has evolved. It was not so very long ago when you were writing saying you had made a mistake and you wanted to come home. :-) I am so glad you stayed and it sounds like you are too.

Congrats on the "very good" and the B. I know you will make the excellent and the A. Okay, to sound sappy, you are already excellent, the A will come in due time. :-)

I think it would be good to wait on the Ph.D. and allow yourself to soak up the Master's degree and all that you have learned thus far. Let me know when I can sit in on a class that you are teaching.:-) Oh, and before I forget, I'm still looking forward to a copy of your novel; in rough manuscript or whatever. The rough manuscript would REALLY be fun!

Thank you for the pictures; they're beautiful. We'll have to pay for our daughter's wedding and then start saving up for a trip to Scotland. I wonder if I could talk the kids into taking a honeymoon to Scotland and we could just tag along. LOL! A) I think they are going to Hawaii on their honeymoon and B) I DOUBT very much if they would want us tagging along on their honeymoon. :-) Barnes and Noble has a book of Scotland on their bargin table. I'm thinking about buying it and pretending I am there with you.

Jaimie, I know we are not family by blood but you know how I feel about you. I am so proud of you!!! I'll be looking forward to the excellent and the A. Take care, little one.

Love and Hugs! :-)

Hello again! I noticed that when I submitted my response to your blog and had typed in B paren that the smiley face has sun glasses. That is why I show A paren and instead of B paren I have a dude with sunglasses. At first it took me a minute to realize I hadn't made a typo!

It's a gorgeous day today after a night fall of snow. (We got about six inches). The sun is now out and the sky is blue.

I need to cut this short as I'm getting ready to go to Michael's (a very dangerous place for me to be) with my daughter.

As always, take care!
Love and Hugs :-)

Happy Valentine's Day, Jaimie! My computer is doing funny things so it won't allow me to send you an e-card. I will need to get that fixed and FAST.

I went to my first cake decorating class yesterday and I am HOOKED, major, big, time. My daughter, Shari and I are taking it together. Who knows maybe we could make this a business. HA!

Hope all is well with you and all of your adventures are spectacular. Miss you, tons!

Love and Hugs, as always! B) (I like the dude with the sunglasses, now that I've figured out how to do make it, LOL).

Hi Jaimie, wie gehts?

Hey, I think you're doing the right thing. I remember the pictures my former co-worker took when she and her husband visited--they were absolutely breath-taking, as are the pictures you've posted.

You're living an adventure. I envy you, and I also admire you. I never would have gotten up the nerve to travel halfway around the world, but I think I'll muster my courage and come over and see you.

I just got home from visiting your folks (and Sammy!). Billings has winter! We didn't get much of one here.

Well, take care over there. I think about you all the time, and wish you continued--and even greater--success. You've got a lot going for you!

Write when you get a chance!

Lots of love,
Aunt Sandy
