It's been a while....

June 23, 2013 - Estero, Florida, United States

I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while. It has surely been a crazy ride the past month.

The shows

We lost another cast member due to injury, but he should be back in 6 weeks.  We regained our cast member who broke her wrist and she has been a rock star. Even though she had a metal plate put in her wrist, she is back doing all of the flying that she did before.

Birthday fun

My cast spoiled me for my birthday.  At midnight, we were watching the big band in Dazzles and everyone stopped and sang Happy Birthday and the executive chef of the ship was there and had someone bring up a delicious cake. In the morning we all went on a trip in Jamaica, where we rode horses on a trail and into the sea.....it was AMAZING.  They gave me a beautiful Laramar ring, which is the local stone of the Caribbean and took me to Chops, the steakhouse aboard, where we had every desert possible and then went to another location and had a chocolate cake that they ordered.  I counted and throughout the day, they ended up singing Happy Birthday 7 times. Lol that is definitely a new record.  I felt very loved and am so thankful to have such a loving and giving cast.

Other Adventures

In Cozumel, I went on a tour where we got to hold a bunch of animals, ride ATVS to caves and jump into a cave where we swam inside- known as spelunking. Such a fun day, but very hard to do two Blue Planet shows that night. I was pooped, but would do it again in a heart beat! A couple of us rented bikes and rode to Airport beach in St. Martin. It  took us about an hour and a half to get there, because the hills were pretty tough.  We watched the airplanes come in right over us at the beach and some people were blown away by them. On the way back, torrential rain hit us and this bike ride quickly turned into an extreme adventure. Lol. We were pushing the time to get back to the ship, so people were a little stressed trying to get back quickly despite the conditions. There were times when we really didn't think we were going to make it.  As we boarded the ship, with 15 mins to spare, we all felt a huge sense of relief and accomplishment. :)

Guests

My friends Jackie and Kelsey came to cruise all the way from Colorado.  I hadn't seen them since their wedding almost three years ago, but it felt just like yesterday.  I really loved having them on board.  It was fun to see the ship through their eyes and experience some things that I hadn't done yet. My favorite part, was just sitting and talking with them. In the Bahamas, we climbed the Queens staircase.  They got to hang out with my cast when we took a Catamaran trip in St. Thomas. We snorkeled and saw lots of fish, held sea urchins( I even put one in my mouth- our guide said that's what the pirates brushed their teeth with), and saw a ship wreck.  In St. Martin, we just relaxed at the beach all day.  It was so fun to have them here!

Homesick

After my friends left, I had a week of being pretty homesick. I really missed my family and was also thinking about my NYC family. Watching the Tony's last week really made me miss NYC too.  Thank you to all my friends and family who sent cards and gifts for my birthday and made me feel so loved and gave me a bit of home to cherish. I'm having a blast here, but it seems that as I get older I get more homesick. ( Isn't it suppose to be the other way around). Lol My parents and Jaysen are coming in two weeks and I can't wait! Thank you to all who continue to read my blog and send words of encouragement. I love and miss you all!
