day 7 Monday 22nd September

September 22, 2008 - Gloucester, United Kingdom

Bradford on Avon to Gloucester via Bath, Nailsworth (using their library now), Stroud and Gloucester. Planning to meet up with Brandon in Gloucester, an old work mate from my I.T. days.

Whilst I have only noticed a tail wind once so far this week (for aprox 2 hours) I have certainly noticed several head winds - seems to be a prevailing NE wind when I was expected the exact opposite - what is happening to our weather ?! Forecast is for a few more days of NE winds too - very sad :(

Other issue is the very poor state of the road surfaces - truely bone shaking stuff - I'm having to put twice the effort in to overcome the extra rolling resistance.

   ...   to be continued ?

You've made great progress Steve - well done. Enjoy Gloucester (great beer and cheese ploughmans at the George) and the flat bits around the town as it gets quite lumpy once you leave the Severn! I tried to save you a bit of Lisa's chocolate birthday cake...but you know what those Joggers are like. And Donna wasn't even there!! Take care Jan

Great progress Steve. I broke a wheel between Stroud and Cheltenham on those road surfaces. Once you get past the latter it gets flatter! Sure the wind will move in your favour soon.

Hi Steve, I grew up in Gloucester and my Grandparents used to run the Longford Inn. If you notice the pub sadly it is now a Beefeater type pub.
I hope you are feeling OK. It is a bit hilly round there but becomes more rolling a bit further up.
All the best
