Fort Augustus to Tain via Inverness starts along the Caledonian Canal and soon I am riding along the A82 with Loch Ness immediately to my right. I'm the only monster here ! Lots of Glens along the way. I ride past Urquahart Castle and Drumnadrochit staying on the A82 right thru' to Inverness and the A9. As I cross the bridge to North Kessock I have the Moray Firth on my right and the Beauly Firth and on my left. I really ought to know the name of the bridge but failed to record that. Maybe there's a photo of it attached to today's log (see below). Anyway, onwards and upwards as I cross the Cromarty Firth with another amazing bridge and I'm on my way to Alness and finally I decide to look early again for a B&B when I get to Tain. Again I find one straight away and wonder if I could have ridden for a couple more hours and still found one, perhaps around Dornoch, Golspie or Brora.
Today was a largely uneventful day of spectacular scenery and unspectacular riding. I have been warned that tomorrow will be much more difficult as I go through what I have been warned is decidedly hilly terrain around the Helmsdale area - I shall look fwd to it.
