The time has finally come! It's my last day in America. Tomorrow at 3:30 I will leave Nashville, departing on a 23 hour trip to Florence. I don't know my address or phone number yet. I do know I don't have access to the internet in my house/villa thing, but I will update as soon as I find out. Email is always the best way to get in touch with me... smithjl@kenyon.eduÂ
I'm going to school at the Institute at the Palazzo Rucellai in the heart of the city, just a few blocks from Il Duomo. It was built in the mid fifteenth century by Alberti as a residential palace for the Rucellai family. The first floor (piano nobile) is where classes are held as well as the student computer lab and library. Parts not used by the Institute are still private residence for the Rucellai family. I'm taking Italian (of course), Cross-Cultural Psychology, a Kenyon seminar on the interaction between Renaissance art and music, and introduction to Photography. The program is run by Kenyon so I'm going with 15 other KC students. My roommate and I have been good friends since freshman year and lucky for me she's a fellow Tennessean.
You know about as much as I do.
Arrivederci tutti!
Ciao America! Buongiorno Italia!
