Another BEAUTIFUL day in Oregon. It was a wet one! I went the the flea market under the Burnside Bridge in Portland. I got gifts for the pups and kitty and I found my ring. I wanted to get a ring to remind me of this trip and I found it! The flea market was really nice. It wasn't raining there. This place is a trip. You hear lots of reggae music and see many references to weed on t-shirts and hats. They even had hooka pipes.
After the flea market I went to Powell's Bookstore. I've heard about this bookstore for years but had never been. It's amazing. It takes up an entire square block. I was there a good two hours looking at all the books and stuff. I had lunch there in the coffee shop. Very cool place.
I walked downtown a bit, looked in some shops, admired the buildings. It was a nice day. Highway 26 is incredible, this is the highway between Seaside and Portland. It was almost like a rain forest, as it rained pretty steadily there going East, then again coming West, but Portland and Seaside were clear. I took some pictures. We'll see how they came out. On the way back I got a speeding ticket. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr This cop; just like every local I've met, was very nice. We literally talked for 20 minutes. He went on about his family, marriage, Oregon... blah, blah, blah. By the end of the conversation we were such tight friends I was sure I wouldn't get a ticket, but.....
I came back to Seaside and took a walk, then a nap. They had an Art Walk downtown tonight, so I walked down there. It was very nice. The shopkeepers are all very friendly. I had a bite to eat, then became violently ill. I came back to my room and have been sick since. I'm hitting the sack early and I'm hoping to feel better in the morning - my last day in this incredible little town.
Until tomorrow... Love ya!
