On top of that it is summer and ever since I returned from Sydney in early January I have had a fantastic time with my friends - sightseeing, partying, you name it. Luckily work at Uni is pretty flexible so I can fit all of it into my busy schedule.
Last weekend my friend Lauren returned from Sydney and brought Mel with her for a few days visit. We ended up not only exploring Melbourne nightlife, but also went to the Dandedongs, beautiful mountain ranges, I.5 hours away from Melbourne. Up there you can go on a ride with the famous Puffing Billy steam train and Mel, Lauren, Tilly and I certainly couldn’t miss out on that opportunity. The train rides through picturesque scenery and it was so much fun dangling our feet of the windows.
The same night all of us, plus a few more people went to the French restaurant Tilly works at, Bergerac, to eat some delicious French cuisine. It was trés, trés yummy and I was even brave enough to eat some snail! It won’t exactly become my favorite food, but I was just too curious to find out what it is like.
On Wednesday we decided to go for another Victorian tourist attraction the penguin parade on Philip Island. Ever since we have watched Madagaskar (you have to see it, if you haven’t already!) we have had a mild obsession with penguins and little penguin wine. I think Lauren bought every single bottle available in the shop. Hence we saw the tiny creatures on a barmy (30 degrees) beautiful night on the beach. The come out every day and walk across the beach to get to their barrows. Just smile and wave – cute and cuddly.
On Thursday night it was time for dinner at my friend Andrew’s and later on a I went to the Q & A party with my boys at a Bar called Barry. I can’t get enough of it, dancing the night away. Although, I had a little mobile drama. At some point during the night I realized my phone was missing and if you have ever lost your mobile, you know what I was going through. It seems insane how much we depend on technology! Everybody was really helpful though and in the end it turned out I was sitting on it! It had fallen down the side to the bottom of the armchair and it was pretty crazy when all off a sudden the armchair started vibrating
The rest of the weekend, again I spend with the people I love. Either having dinner or watching movies at Mike’s or at a Barbecue at Andrew’s followed by a drag show at the Greyhound in St.Kilda on Saturday night. Living life to the fullest!
It seems hard to believe that in about ten days I am leaving Melbourne to go travelling in South East Asia for a few months. It has been too good, and I even if I don’t know when, I’m convinced I will be back.

ooooh steff i think your ears are burning, i tell steff stories so much. my roommate's boyfriend likes to drop random german phrases and i always think of you!!
do you have any kind of address in SE asia that i can send you a colorful letter at? or i might need your home address instead. after weeks of promises i finally got one out to mel -- and it was like 5 pages long haha she probably won't have the patience/time to sit through it!!!
anyhow your pictures are amazing and i'm so, so glad you're having such a good time. so much to update you on!! my lifeplan changes every 6 minutes on average. not so many good times this weekend (although we have a 3 day weekend!) because i'm all sniffly, BUT i am getting beaucoup de work done.
i made dinner for a little party last thursday!! chicken with yummy marinade, veggies, and couscous. it was so good. i'm trying my hand at cooking again on thursday, all of your antics in melbourne inspired me, and by the time you come here or i come to germany, one of us will be an awesome chef (who will it be? who knows!!)
