Long Beach to San Diego
May 1, 2008 - Anaheim, California, United States
Hey there everyone, It's Rosie back again. Jase has let me have a turn of adding a journal entry again. I can't guarantee that my entries will be as funny as his though. This part of the journey started at Long Beach. As most of you are probably aware by now that Jase is into cars and motorbikes and we had made plans to visit a lot of the places that Jase is interested in. West Coast Choppers was our first visit in Long Beach. We accidentally put the wrong address into the GPS and ended up in this scummy area of town with lots of Mexican's eyeing us up, we ended up finding the right place that we wanted to be but it was not much better so we headed home to Anaheim. We enjoyed being in Anaheim. It was really central and it obviously had it's dodgey areas of town and people but in general we enjoyed our time there. When we first arrived in America Jase would always tell me to lock the doors, I used to try and do it discretely but Jase just did it in front of everyone. We now have a little saying "discrete door lock" and we both make out we are doing a little stretch or something and we lean on the door lock.....We must look like right knobs. We also went to the Queen Mary in Long Beach which was pretty huge (The Queen Mary is a Cruise liner bigger than the Titanic). We went on a self guided tour and ended up the front of the boat called the bridge checking out all the controls of the boat, Jase was reading up about the horns and I was out on the deck when the horn to the boat went off, I did not really know what it was and neither did Jase. I did not know whiich way to run as I thought it was some sort of alarm and that maybe I had touched something I was not supposed to, I think I even said F*** out loud in front of other people touring the boat. Jase looked like he just shit himself too. It turned out that they blow the horn on the boat at 10.00am and 12.00 each day. Quite amusing really - although it was not at the time. Laguna Beach was our next stop - this a great little place. Very rich place. The beaches are very nice in this area and we enjoyed our stay there. I think Jase enjoyed the women there in skimpy bikini's the most although he said he liked the scenery I think he was talking about a different kind of scenery than me . We headed to San Diego the next day. Some of the days have been so bloody hot that it makes it hard to go and do anything and the next day in San Diego was a bit like that. The driving to San Diego was quite intense, I think at one stage we were on a 9 lane freeway. The driving in San Diego has not been that much of a pleasant experience over the last 3 days as we just about got side swiped by a Ford Explorer that came across 2 lanes on Monday and then on Tuesday night a boy racer did the same thing. It certainly gets the heart pumping but we are lucky that Jase is quite alert and on edge when he drives so he is always looking out for idiots like that! This week we have been to the Zoo and today we went to Sea World which was cool. Today it was cold and I had to wear my jacket which is the first time since leaving San Francisco but it made getting around Sea World a bit more pleasant when the heat is not so extreme. I think on Monday it was 36 degrees here which was really really uncomfortable. San Diego has been a little bit disappointing and it does remind me a bit of San Francisco with the homeless people and the not so nice streets. Old town San Diego was quite authentic and it looked like how I pictured Mexico to be, lots of little shops with trinkets and stuff, Jase was not that impressed by Old Town. We did venture into Broadway (Downtown San Diego) and were being scoped out by a couple of guys in Bandanas so we got out of there. We also went shopping out near the Mexican border which was interesting aswell as there is a huge fence, police, choppers and people everywhere. We were a bit worried we would take the wrong turn and end up in Mexico. The other thing I will say is that Jase likes to think he is a bit funny and has a habit of trying to be funny when we are on amusement rides. Today at Sea World on the Gondala ride he has to tell me about fraying ropes and that if the ride was to break at least we would fall into water.........................he was a warped sense of humour at times. For the record he is not exactly a big heroe when it comes to scary rides but likes to make out he is and loves to take the piss out of my face on some of the rides but I can tell you that his face on some of the rides certainly looks like he is packing himself. Tomorrow we head to Palm Springs and then to Vegas which Jase is really looking forward too. So that is about it for now. The closing comment for today is we came over here with 1 large suitcase and 1 small suitcase that you can take on as carry on luggage. We now have 2 more large suitcases and probably need another one and we are only 4 weeks into our holiday. That does not include a whole lot of other stuff that can not fit in any bags or suitcases that we just have in plastic bags. When we travel in the car the back seats are folded down and the whole back of the car is almost full...........................................I think there are going to be some issues getting our stuff home.
