Man am I glad to be here! Managed to re-arrange the flight to go a day later from Beijing and the Visa came through in the end, what a mess that was! I flew out on Tuesday evening didnt realise that there was a connecting flight so after two hours in the air we landed, I was a little surprised. As I got off the plane I asked the flight attendence if we were in Veitnam, "Oh no,we are in China." STILL???!! Get me out of this place!
We had to check out of China in the south, Guanghzou, and then board another plane to get to Veitnam another hour's flight away. I landed about midnight and was so pleased to see a friendly face, caroline had arranged somebody to come and pick me up from the Hotel and he was so nice! He'd been waiting two hours for me as the flight was delayed and said he was getting worried, I think he was more worried about getting home but it was still nice to speak some english with sucha friendly person. Couldnt have been more pleased to see Caroline, think now at last I realised my bad luck had runs its course, touch wood!
We are staying a couple of nights here in the capitol, Hanoi, which is beautiful. The old quarter where our hotle is, The Bodega, is full of old hickoldy-pickoldy houses with a strong french influence with their shutters and ornate balconeys. The streets are full of massive trees and the loads of mopeds, Id forgotten how crazy the road systems are here when there temming with bicycles and peds! We went on a walking trail around the old quater yesturday and today we are off to the army museum before catching the over night bus to Hoian - my favourite place! xx
