Hoi'an

April 28, 2008

I thought it might be a little strange revisiting somewhere Ive already been but its actually a whole lot nicer! Its a lot quieter here than last time I came a few months back also its coming up to a veitnamesse public holiday so lots of locals are away for the weekend. Already the prices have jumped up in this area though im not surprised the amount of people that flock to visit this world heritage town.

We are staying here a few days as its cheap and getting hard to book anywhere further south over this weekend but we've been cycling to the beach everyday which is about 5km out of town. Yesturday it was so hot I had to sit in the shade all day to avoid frying! The food here is really good, we went out an tried some local dishes such as porridge soup - which is more like a stew with rice in it, very filling. Cao Low - a kind of cold noodle salad and also they have a different style of dumplings called White Rose. Its a pretty relaxing place here, everyone is laid back and lots eat out on the streets everyday as its cheaper than cooking at home which makes it more social. Everyone we have met has been very helpful and friendly. We head down south in a few days before flying back to Singapore.
