Brussels

May 29, 2008 - Brussels, Belgium

To top off our European travels, Suzi and I headed over to  Brussels, Belgium.

This was definitely a huge contrast from any other European  country we had been to yet. It is a very large city with many people and more  modern design in the buildings. Although many buildings of the older style of  architecture are still to be found, the majority of places have a different  feel.

We made sure to ask the concierge the best route to see many  of the historical sites and shopping hot spots as we only had one day passing  through on our way back to London. He gave us an excellent map that we  followed, and on foot we were able to see what the city was all about.

The Palace, the St. Michael's Cathedral where the Pope  frequents, we had ‘pomp frits’(French fries originated in Belgium) and of course Belgium Waffles!! WOW, so  many good eats came from Belgium it amazes me.

At the end of the night we got spiffed up and headed over to  a delectable French-Italian restaurant for the most delicious dishes in all of  Brussels. There we were even treated like celebrities! Our journey through this city was definitely a fun travel!

Wow! The palace, the palace grounds, the food, the city! You really bring it all to life for us. Great pictures - you've got your uncle's talent in photography. Thanks for sharing it all with us!
