Idecided to go on the Internet and request assistance in boarding the plane forBarcelona, what a great idea. We checked in and then were told to report to special assistance 40minutes before the plane was due to take off. Eddie was put in a wheelchair and we walked pasteveryone; taken to the door of the plane given our choice of seats. The staff member we had wasIndian had only been in the job for 3 weeks and due to the fact that there isall these duty free stores around the place and some of them are offering freetaste test for alcohol he decide that he should also be allowed to have ataste. He was told by hisboss that it was not allowed so now he makes sure that his customers have afree taste, so before we could board the plane we have had a taste test ofPimms and Tequila, mine you this is 10.15am. Then atthe other end someone was there to meet us, got our bags for us and took us outto the taxi rank helped us into taxi. Makes it a lot easier for Eddie, we have found thatthere is always such a long way to walk and this solves all that, yeeha.
Whatan exhilarating city Barcelona is, awesome old buildings, I have only taken awalk around the hotel area at this stage but you could get lost in notime. All these back streetswith buildings that are 4 and 5 stories high with balconies hanging over thecobble streets. Over thenext couple of days we are going to take the open bus tours, you buy a ticketfor 1 or 2 days and there are 3 tours, you can hop off and on as many times asyou like, they take about 2 hours and have English audio guide headphones.
Thursday5th June
Wewoke to a great day so after a late breakfast headed for the Bus tour. The line was pretty long and wehad to wait for about the 4th bus. The tour was great we got to see, Segrada Familia, whatan amazing building and the man had so much fore sight. Apparently he always said that itwould take a number of generations to complete his plan. Of cause we saw all the Gaudibuildings or parks we did not stop and walk as Eddie would have been too tiredby the end, but it was great to see all these sights. Our hotel is close to Plaza Catalonia so we are in thehub of it all, so much to see and do and I will have to miss some sights. When Eddie was resting today Iwent for a walk, so many little streets and I was sure I was going to get lost, but then you come out into a square which you remember and then find yourway. It is such an incrediblecity; we should have allowed a week to view it all. More time tomorrow so I will be out there looking at all Ican. The rain started thisafternoon when we were on the second tour and it has been quite heavy so hopefullytomorrow will be sunny.
Thanks to you all for your messages, Freena; a tours like this takes years or experience and then decided to spend the money and not leave it too the kids.
Hope you are all well and safe the next leg of our journey will be interesting, I have to drive a car out of Barcelona for Girona and MotorGP. Could be a very interesting story.
