Stockholm Adventure #1!!

January 25, 2008 - Uppsala, Sweden

Today a few ladies and I went to Stockholm!

We took a fairly short train ride right into the city around 1130 am, and walked around a shopped all day! (don't worry mom & dad I only bought a hat, it was 70% off.)  It is a beautiful city! We walked around Gamla Stan (Old Town) and enjoyed the narrow streets and colorful buildings.  And then, almost out of nowhere, huge open spaces with the river and docked sailboats and buildings lining the shore is in front of you.  It's really cool to walk around inside the city and then have these huge areas where you can breathe and look around and take it all in!
We saw the Kungliga Slottet (royal palace),  the Nordiska Musset (Nordic Museum), Kunglinga Biblioteket, TONS of H & M's (probably like 10).  It seems like the whole city, at least most of what we saw, was a giant mall.  Instead of like 1 or 2 streets with a ton of shopping, there were stores everywhere! shopping shopping shopping!  we were pretty tired, with our coats and all that stuff so we didn't go in very many stores.  Luckily as the day went on, the weather got better and better! it started off a little wet and cold, without sun, and soon enough the sun came out and lit up the city.
I made an album with some photos of our excursion!

Some more exciting news: I got a bed!!  I no longer have a mattress on the floor! It now has legs, thanks to Salam, one of my corridor mates.  Unfortunately the guy who had the room before me had a lot of parties, and people were in his room jumping on the bed, and it got crushed under the weight!  It even broke some of the support beams under the mattress.   So Salam and straightened out the nails and hammered it all back together, and put the legs on! Hooray!  I also put some pics on my wall, so now my room feels much more complete.
I think that covers the current happenings... oh, I got a gym membership yesterday! and tomorrow is Australia day! (its a really big deal to all the Aussies I know).  So it is reason enough to celebrate!
