Hey everyone, thanks for all the comments, it is great to see that people still love us even though we've left you all to tramp around Canada!
We left Chilliwack on March 3 and took the ferry from Horshoe Bay in Vancouver to Departure Bay in Nanaimo. We hadn't managed to sell our truck, so we drove on, luckily saving us the embarrassment of collapsing under the weight of our freaking huge packs. For now . . .
During the ride, we observed some dolphins, a random guy passed out on the outside deck, rich yuppies in fancy cars, random islands covered in lush forests, and we experienced bran muffins and the chief steward.
When we arrived at the Nanaimo terminal, we bought our tickets for the Port Hardy to Skidegate via Prince Rupert trip; $400 later our passage to the Queen Charlotte Islands was secured.
We've been at the Iguana Ranch for a week now and are already itching to go backpacking. We've been peeling logs, chopping down trees, gardening, babysitting and playing with the dog. It is difficult to think of ourselves as environmentalists while revving a chainsaw or dumping Miracle Gro into the ground, but beggars can't be choosers. And the meals are AMAZING!! So the karma balances out in the end.
We still haven't sold our truck, but it goes in the paper on Tuesday, so we'll see what happens. Maybe we'll be back to work sooner than we thought, to pay the loan for that stupid truck . . . it is frustrating.
Otherwise, we are mostly staying warm and dry, and are sleeping in until 9 every morning.

Looking forward to hearing where the wind blows you next! (and no Eric, I don't want to hear about ALL of the places that the wind may blow you)
