England

June 13, 2008 - Leeds, United Kingdom

I arrived Monday the 12th of May at 6.30am after a 36 hour trip during which I only slept like 5 hours. So a very very jet lagged Dee arrived and couldnt find anywhere to buy a SIM, tried a payphone which didnt work so went and found the train to catch to Paddington. A nice American guy lent me his phone to try calling Andrew (my friend I was going to stay with) and also helped me with my bags...I had too many for my little arms :) I realised quickly that I must've written Andrews number down wrong as it didnt work...Hmm crap. I remembered the name of the Pub so called the directory and found out the address and phone number, but of course at 7am who is going to be at the pub?
So I got to Paddington got one of the trolley things for a pound and wandered going ~Hmmmmm~
I have no idea why it didnt occur to me to call Hayley (my bestfriend)...I blame the jetlag. Anyway I asked a taxi driver (who luckily was nice!!!! ...Londoners are a right crabby lot!!!) where the address was and he pointed me in the general direction so I started walking....with the trolley...which got me some funny looks and the grumpy Londoners didnt like how much of the footpath I was taking up.
One woman got angry at me which just caused me to burst out laughing because I found the fact that she was angry over nothing very amusing at that point.
Anyway, effectively I stole the trolley and missioned down the road and found Andrews address and just yelled his name up at the windows....and thank god his head popped out!! Haha.

I only stayed in London 2 nights and just quickly ran around the city one night in the blustering wind. So I will definitely have to go back and see it properly at some point.

I am now living in Leeds with my Great Uncle in his retirement - which is a very nice place actually! Right next to a really nice park. I work just 10 mins down the road at a Chef and Brewer pub. I cant say I love the job and I cant say it pays well, but it will do for 2 months. I figure it better that I dont like it because then I wont care about leaving it :)

I have been to see the Yorkshire Dales which are gorgeous and I will have to upload the few photos I took there. I went over to Bramley which is where my mother grew up and saw the two houses she lived in when she was little...what a lifestyle...! That same day I also went to Kirkstall Abbey which was gorgeous...and I do so love old ruined buildings so I was in my element ;)

At the moment my life consists of pretty much just work and fine tuning my travel plans. I work evenings so I get all day to myself to do as I please which I am loving. I do however have a tendancy to sleep in in the morning....but thats nothing new...only difference is now it cant get me in trouble :)
