{2009 July} Seeing Sarah Palin

July 29, 2009 - Eielson Afb, Alaska, United States

As many of you may know, our family moved up near Fairbanks, Alaska back in May. We actually live in a small little town called North Pole, where it's Christmas all year long! We have had some exciting moments in just the two months since we have made our way up here. First we drove up; we traveled from North Dakota through Montana and up into Canada. We hit the Alaskan Highway and headed north to the border. We took our time, a 10 day trip. It was quite amazing. We arrived up here and bought our first home. We are in a nice little secluded place about a 15 minutes drive to work. If you keep up on politics you may see our governor was none other than the GOP vice presidential nominee Sara Palin. Well, on July 3rd she announced that she was resigning as governor of Alaska 15 months shy of the end of her term. This past Sunday, July 26, 2009, she handed the state over to Lt Governor Sean Parnell here in Fairbanks. So, we went and waded through the crowds to go see and here that. It was interesting; Palin is quite a feisty lady and even had some parting shots at the media. The stuff that didn’t make the news was her and now Governor Parnell talking about the future of Alaska. This year is Alaska's 5oth year as a state. They made some good points about where this state needs to head so time doesn’t pass it by. There must have been 10,000 people crammed into the small park where the ceremony was held; it was a chore just finding a parking spot let alone walking around. Well, that’s about it from me here in the great state of Alaska for now. One more thing, I don't think we've seen the last of Sarah Palin.....Senator Palin....President Palin...only time will tell. I will upload some pictures of the event soon. Take care all.
