manuel antonio

July 29, 2008 - Quepos, Costa Rica

this weekend i went with 25 other kids from my group to manuel antonio, a beach on the pacific coast of costa rica.   it was a 5 hour drive, with all of us crammed into one bus, but it was a beautiful trip since we went through the mountains.  it was also terrifying at times since the bus driver didn´t really feel a need to slow down, even when there were sheer 100 ft drops off the side of the road.

saturday we relaxed at the beach, and then sunday we went to manuel antonio national park.  25% of costa rica is national parks, and manuel antonio is known as one of the most beautiful.  we hired a tour guide and at 715 am he picked up a group of us from our hotel.  there were people from spain on the tour too (the man capris  the guys were wearing was a dead give away that they were european) so our tour was bilingual.  the park was beautiful and we got to see a bunch of wild monkeys, sloths, and a bunch of insects that could kill us.  apparently in costa rica, the smaller some animal is, the more deadly its likely to be.  virginia is definitely much, much less scary.  the park also had one of the most gorgeous beach ívé seen, and we got to play on that for a little before ending our tour.

now i´m back in cartago! we had school off today because of guancaste annexation day (the day a new province decided to becoem part of CR and not lame nicaraguea) so i volunteered at an HIV home.  back to school tomorrow though!

xoxo
